Not sure if I can call this Americana, as it is very, very Japanese, but they were sold in the US and are very cool. This is the original version, with the removable plane headpiece.

A Classic American toy, the 1967 Thunderbike from Aurora Plastics Corp., Westhempstead, L. I., New York. A rare part of Aurora’s Model Motoring HO scale slot car line.
This example unused and in the original package. The Thuderbike was Aurora Item # 1398, originally $3.98, equivalent to $26.96 in 2011 dollars.
